Tempe High School
I have worked with Tempe for the past 2 years and was a part of their program since 2024, Working as just a tech I was able to make my way to Head Percussion Director for the school and now currently running their percussion program full time, I also have been working with their percussion class in order to maintain a routine in the classroom and to hold an expectation of how percussion ensemble should run. I've worked with Tempe not only for their percussion class but also for their Marching Band as well as their Indoor Winds Program.
Convergence
During the winter of 2025 I was able to work with the group Convergence Indoor Percussion and was able to be a part of their front ensemble staff/ Team. Being able to work with this group gave me the experience needed to start my own group and be able to teach an indoor program. Looking at this season, we were able to go up a division and take top three in the state of Arizona, we then traveled to Dayton, Ohio to compete with groups across the country.
Internships/Student Teaching
Below are the schools that I've been co-teaching at for the past 2 years in order to grow my teaching skills. I've done three internships including Anderson Elementary School, Tempe High School, and Aprende Middle School/Brisas Elementary. For my student teaching I currently teach at Jefferson Elementary.
Anderson Elementary
Working with Anderson Elementary, I was really able to grow with my teaching and be able to work with all different types of students spanning from Kindergarten through 5th grade. I was really able to grow my teaching skills in Ukulele and many other general musical instruments.
Tempe Highschool
Working with Antonio Lozano, I was able to really understand how his program was run and how I should be able to create a successful band and choir, I was working with the percussion program including writing the music for the class and eventually playing it for a concert.
Aprende Middle School
Working at Aprende I was able to work with the mallet master's for their feeder program and really help out the students with mallet percussion. Also working with the band I was able to take a lot of notes on how I should run a middle school program and how a middle school band should sound.
Working at Jefferson Elementary School, I really began to explore my secondary instruments. Working with Kindergarten through 3rd Grade General music and 4th grade through 6th Grade band has really helped me be able to run a school program on my own. I have also taken the full role to teach Ukulele's to my Sixth graders. I am in charge of that class creating lesson plans and working with them to understand the instrument. Working at this school for my student teaching has made me be able to work not only on music but on behavior, I have taught so many classes by myself, and I feel like I have very good control of the classroom when it comes to behavior. Throughout the past couple of months, I've really been able to show off my secondaries including Trumpet, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Trombone. I'm very grateful for my placement and I really feel like this will help me be the best teacher possible.
